Algorfa is a village in the Vega Baja del Segura region, in the south of the province of Alicante, with about 3,800 residents. It lies inland, about 10 minutes by car from the sea and the beaches of Guardamar del Segura, and around the village developments of villas and semi-detached houses have grown up, along with the La Finca golf course.
Location and life here
Algorfa is a former farming village, known for citrus growing, located on the flat terrain of the Vega Baja at an altitude of about 26 m above sea level. You reach the beaches of Guardamar del Segura in about 10 minutes, and Alicante-Elche airport in about 40 minutes. Summers here are hot and dry, and winters mild. A weekly market is held in Algorfa on Wednesdays.
What to see
In the centre of the village stand the town hall and the Iglesia del Carmen church, and all around stretch the farmland of the Vega Baja. Outside the centre are the developments of Lo Crispín, Castillo de Montemar and Montebello and the La Finca Golf course, around which residential buildings and a hotel with a spa centre have grown up.
