Casares – guide for property buyers on the Costa del Sol

Casares is one of the most beautiful white villages of Andalusia, located inland in the province of Málaga, not far from Estepona and Manilva. About 9,000 people live there, and since 1978 its historical and architectural heritage has been protected.

Climate and location

The village lies on a hill, and its white houses descend the slope below the castle walls. The climate is Mediterranean: summers are hot and dry, and winters mild. The views of the Sierra Crestellina mountains and the surrounding valleys bring calm here, and the coast is a short drive away.

What to see

A castle founded by the Moors in the 12th century, narrow streets with white houses clinging to the rock, the La Hedionda thermal springs (linked by legend to Julius Caesar) and the birthplace of Blas Infante, known as the father of Andalusian regionalism.
