Downtown Dubai – guide for property buyers in Dubai

Downtown Dubai is the heart of modern Dubai: this is where the Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world (828 m) – stands, together with the Dubai Mall and the famous Dubai Fountain. The district belongs to the freehold zones, where foreigners can buy property with full ownership.

Location and character of the district

Downtown lies in the city centre, around Burj Khalifa Lake and Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. It is usually about 15–25 minutes by car from here to DXB airport, and the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station connects the district with the rest of the city.

What to see

The biggest attractions are the Burj Khalifa with its At the Top observation deck, the Dubai Mall with its huge aquarium and a waterfall with diver sculptures, the evening Dubai Fountain shows on the lake, and the Dubai Opera.
