Guardamar del Segura – guide for property buyers on the Costa Blanca
Guardamar del Segura is a seaside resort at the mouth of the Segura river in the south of the province of Alicante, home to about 18,600 people. It is famous for its 11-kilometre white beach and the extensive pine forest right behind it.
Climate and location
The climate is Mediterranean: summers are hot and dry, and rain falls mainly in autumn and spring (about 370 mm a year). The town lies at the mouth of the Segura, and between the beach and the town stretch dunes and a pine forest that provides shade on hot days.

What to see
The long, sandy beach with dunes, the pine forest along the coast, the mouth of the Segura river, the castle with a view of the sea, and the archaeological sites of the Phoenician colony of Herna. The town hosts Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians) festivals and the Fogueres de Sant Joan.
